Science Moab

About:

Science Moab’s mission is to make place-based science accessible to all. We envision communities across the Colorado Plateau thriving from a deeper engagement with science and place-based knowledge.

Science Moab offers a variety of programs that connect the community with the vibrant science happening all over the region, including: our popular Science Moab radio show/podcast and live event series; our School to Science program, which pairs high school students with scientist mentors for hands-on science experiences in the field and the lab; and our Science Certified program, which trains outdoor recreation guides in communicating vital place-based science principles to their clients, Moab’s visitors.

Science Moab incorporated as a nonprofit in April 2019, with a board, staff, and volunteer team composed of local scientists, educators, business owners, and recreationists.

We aim to develop an informed and passionate citizenry that understands, connects with, and cares for the fragile desert ecosystems and sacred cultural sites surrounding Moab. To achieve this goal, we are incubating science-based engagement and economic opportunities that cherish intact, healthy ecosystems and uplift and sustain the local community.
