The Moab Free Health Clinic, School-based Therapist position is for the Grand County School District located in Moab, Utah. The School-based Therapist is responsible for providing mental health services in a timely manner to middle school and high school students experiencing behavioral and/or mental health difficulties. The therapist may also provide consultation services to school staff to support the overall mental health goals of the schools. The therapist must have a high degree of self-motivation and initiation.
1. Provide direct mental health services including intake assessment, individual/family/group therapy, and crisis intervention to assigned clients. 2. Maintain regular contact with the parent/guardian of each client (if appropriate). 3. Complete treatment plans, treatment plan updates, progress notes. 4. Furnishes reports/updates to Juvenile Court, DCFS, school principals, school guidance counselors, teachers, treatment teams, and other involved agencies. 5. Attends regularly scheduled school staff meetings (SBST at high school and SST at middle school) and clinical supervision meetings. 6. Provides consultation for school staff regarding mental health issues, as needed/requested by staff/administrators. 7. Conducts 2 groups per trimester at middle and high schools. 8. Participate in the collection of mental health information and student outcomes to be used for monitoring the overall performance and effectiveness of services provided for grant reporting. 9. Provides complete and timely documentation to support services rendered. 10. Must consistently demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain good public relations with families, referral agencies and other community resources through appropriate organizational, written, and verbal skills. 11. Must have excellent attendance. 12. Other duties assigned.
Must possess a strong knowledge of the common diagnoses and treatments for adolescents and possess the skills necessary to facilitate positive change in the school environment. Must possess an understanding of how trauma affects brain development and have trauma informed treatment skills.
1. Master’s degree from an accredited University or College in the field of Social Work, Psychology or related field. 2. Licensed in the State of Utah to provide mental health services. 3. Experienced and comfortable working with adolescents. 4. Preference given to applicants with specific trauma treatment training such as EMDR, TF-CBT.
